LGBT is an acronym for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender
Lesbian: a woman who is sexually and emotionally attracted to women
Gay: a man who is sexually and emotionally attracted to men
Bisexual: a person who is sexually and emotionally attracted to people of both one’s own and the other sex
Transgender: people whose gender identity and/or gender expression differs from the sex they were assigned at birth. The term may include, but it is not limited to: transsexuals, intersex persons, cross-dressers, and other gender variant people.
Diversity & Inclusion Programme is a comprehensive programme that assists corporations to positively manage diversity and all staff feels included in the work processes. Such a programme usually comprises diversity training for management and staff; promotes the formation of minority employee groups; provides for diversity in procurement; and the development of products and services that take into account customer diversity.
Anti-Discrimination Policy prohibits any form of discrimination on a list of grounds at all stages of employment, including recruitment, distribution of promotions and termination of employment.
Sexual Orientation refers to a person’s sexual and emotional attraction to people of the same and/ or different sex; in colloquial language often described as lesbian, gay, straight or bisexual.
Gender Identity refers to a person’s sense of conformity between their biological and psychological gender. This is the individual’s gender concept of self, which does not necessarily dependent on the sex they were assigned at birth.
LGBT Harassment refers to any act or conduct that is unwelcome to the victim, which could be regarded in relation to the victim’s sexual orientation / gender identity as offensive, humiliating or intimidating. It can include spoken words, gestures or the production, display or circulation of written words, pictures or other material.
Harassment remains one of the principal forms of discrimination that LGBT people experience in the workplace.
LGBT employee resource group here refers to a network of LGBT employees that is officially recongised by your corporation.
Supplier diversity is a programme that provides minority-owned diverse businesses the opportunity to participate in all areas of marketing, procurement, and contracting activities. (LGBT supplier diversity thus refers to the programmes that specifically target LGBT owned firms).
Advertisements refers to advertisements that positively portray LGBT people and do not contribute to reinforce any negative stereotypes of the LGBT community.
LGBT themes refer to the direct/indirect inclusion of LGBT people (as individuals and/or families), and references to LGBT culture/issues in a manner that does not contribute to reinforce any negative stereotypes of the LGBT community.
